Somatic Psychology is an integrative field of study that bridges, rather than separates, the mind-body dynamic. Much of the understanding stems from research into neuroscience, consciousness and the unconscious mind that is believed to ‘speak’ through pathways of the body. Through examining the complex relationship between our bodies and minds we can begin to gather an understanding of how our psychological histories, emotional experiences, response systems and interpersonal relationships and trauma manifest into tension, pain, disconnect and disease within the body. Somatic Psychologists use a combination of traditional psychotherapy techniques blended with a variety of body focused therapies such as movement, dance, Hakomi, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Rubenfeld Synergy Method, Somatic Experiencing, and Bioenergetics, Integrative body and mind Psychotherapy. I am developing an innovative and holistic healing that incorporates many of these approaches in combination with mediation, breath and yoga; the result being a powerful and effective practice that invites deep release, renewal and transformation for mind and body.
I will be posting my discoveries and research along the way so stay tuned for much, much more on this progressive filed of whole Self healing with Robin Yoga and Sacred Healing Arts.
