How often do you hear the same thoughts going over and over in your head? It is said, on average, we have 70,000 thoughts a day, and the majority of these thoughts are the same, imbedded in habitual pathways, what we call Samskaras in yoga philosophy. Our thoughts and perceptions are incredibly powerful;behind our thoughts are emotions, behind the emotions there are chemicals; all of which communicate with the cells in the body, all of which work collectively to create our reality. If our thoughts are constantly sending unhealthy, self defeating messages then our life becomes a direct reflection of this internal state of constant dialogue. Similarly, our thoughts tend to project us into the future attached to expectation, worry, doubt, assumption or they take us to the past where we become attached to previous experiences, fears and old thinking. A healthy mind is one that allows it’s self to detach to the thoughts, to recognize them as ‘thing’s’ and to recognize our ability to loosen the grip on the habitual negative patterns. A healthy mind is one that finds contentment through contemplation in presence.
Through the use of Mindful Medicine I will help you navigate through the chaos of the mind and emotions; bringing clearer perception and reflection. We will bring awareness to ‘triggers’ (the catalyst that sends the mind to past or future) and replace the habit thinking with positive, present, life affirming choices.
Our most potent tool for managing the mind will be developing a meditation practice. Practicing presence and observation is a discipline that will truly allow you to reframe your thoughts to create a non reactionary, peaceful and insightful life.
